Actually, I do believe it is possible that there are well meaning and ethical people breeding these sorts of mixed breed puppies. And if you notice who participated in writing the BYB sticky, that should be my bona fides on the subject.

Life is not always black and white, people are not either good or evil, and dog breeders are rarely either saints or devils.

Rb, I wish you the best with your puppy, and hope she fulfills your puppy dreams. Please come back here if you want help as she grows up.

Meanwhile, here are my two favorite puppy books that I like to recommend to new puppy parents.

Thank you so much Tess! I appreciate your open-mindedness and suggestions. I've actually already read the Puppy Primer and will be living by it over the coming weeks and months so I look forward to reading your other suggestion as well!

Thanks again and I'm sure I'll be back for tips in the future!

Amaryllis, my comment was not about what you said specifically, but rather just a reflection on the general tone of dog forums out there, including this one, that folks who get these sorts of puppies encounter. While there are certainly puppy mills turning out designer breed puppies by the dozens, selling them on the internet and shipping all over the country, motivated purely by profit and caring nothing for the puppy or the new owner, I think this stereotype is not always the reality in every case.
