Need ideas and help Please

Sherlock has never had a issue with the leash from the moment I have clipped it on. Both his mother and the breeder really did a good job on him with manners, and follow along.

That all said their is one issue I am struggling with. We live in a condo so there is a "lawn" then we go to our parking space and roadway to get to the path's that are nice for walking.

Here is the problem... Sherlock refuses to leave our front yard area. He will if my best friends 9 year old King Charles is with us, or I have his favorite treats. However even with Ceaser or his favorite treats it is stop and start and a lot of "talking" and grumbling from him.

When I get him to the end of our road to the walking paths he is fine and loves his walks and meeting everybody and other dogs. But I will admit the walk home is by far quicker, in fact I am using his natural instincts to train him to track home.

If we take him to a park or a place for socialization he has NO hesitation, no talking , no grumbling he is happy, happy to get out and play, socialize, in places that are not starting out from home.

At night forget it he will not budge off his little patch of lawn. I have never encounter this with a pup, so here is my questions.

Is he just a homebody? Am I missing a signal of fear? Should I just continue to treat and move him along from the front of the house?

I seriously do not want to do something that will ruin this perfect dog. ( Nope not being bias LOL ok maybe a little bit.) This is really the only area that has me concerned, in everything else he is displaying eagerness to learn, is appropriately hesitant but curious, social to the point I am thinking of getting him his own fan page LOL.

Any ideas, help will be greatly appreciated, heck I will even take "your being crazy and making problems where there are none stop being crazy LOL"

It's not that you are doing anything wrong. Some dogs just need that extra bit of training. I really do think that both you and your great wee dog would benefit from a bit of puppy training at your local class. You will both appreciate the outcome and be
Able to enjoy those walks that we all enjoy. Good luck Gem.

Thanks Connor for the reply.

Yup he is being enrolled in puppy classes next week, not only to learn but for the socializing. I have to wait until he is 10 weeks though, which is next Friday.

Today though he grumbled ( hounds talk A LOT!!) he walked just fine off the lawn to the trails. I am chalking it up to it raining and him deciding the skies were trying to drown him.

Oh my but I do love this goofy pup.
