I can't tell you how much of a failure I felt like my first week after bringing Cobber home (but everyone else can tell you - they read all my posts about it!)

It does get better, you will see improvement. You and the pup will both get to know each other and settle into a routine. And thank heavens the puppy period is not the same duration as actually raising a baby then toddler human!

What worked for me with housetraining was overdoing the trips outside. People above say every hour or two but I feel like Cobber and I basically lived outside all day whenever possible. Now that he's 4.5 months old and seems to have better bladder control, we play inside for a good hour after he's done his business in the yard. And to a limited extent, he's started to let me know when he wants/needs to go out. That will take more work, but he hasn't had an accident in the house for many weeks now (knock on wood).

The best thing besides spending so much time outside is using the crate. That made such a huge difference in how much control of the situation I felt like I had.

It does get better really!

My puppy is now doing the "let's not listen to my owner, let's run away" -_-; gosh I am so afraid of him getting hurt.

Isn't he leashed or in a fenced area? I will tell you he will get hurt if you don't have control over him, a large dog, a car, etc. It all happens so quickly, please be sure he is SAFE when you take him out.

I had him fenced in but he found a way out. Which is why I have him leashed now.

Aww, a houdini! Are you able to fix the fence securely? Maybe chicken wire on the bottom buried into the ground about a foot? Fenced in yards are worth their weight in gold for exercising and training!

I think there is some chicken wire in the shed. I'll have to set that up somehow.
