They're playing, how cute! I think that is wonderful, obviously pineapple is having just as much fun as coconut, she knows she can get back on top of the cat tree and she laid down to "wrestle" with the puppy. I think they are doing great.

TBH, I think it would be good to watch them carefully and not let them be alone together but maybe also let go of some fear it seems like you might have, if my dogs played like that with cat I would be so happy and proud of all their good behavior.

Thank you, I think I am just scared of one of them getting hurt. The dog we had growing up *never* chased cats, and I'm just so clueless on what is normal. I think I'll keep working with them and separating them if the dog gets too rowdy but keep her off the leash.

I think that sounds like a good plan and it will be good that you take things at a pace your also comfortable with so they can feel that positive energy coming from you. Honestly they look like they are getting along great.

So they play pretty regularly now, but the puppy today has been grabbing her scruff and pulling on her. She's only done it twice, but the cat just lets it happen for a second before getting irritated and moving. Is that bad? Am I still paranoid? Otherwise, all play interaction is very "gentle" (doesn't look gentle, but no one is drawing blood...).

i don't know what others think, but i'd say that if the cat is tolerating it, then it is ok... if it seems to get outta hand/you don't like it you can always interrupt them...

Yeah, she goes after the puppy and can be quite mean. It's kind of like they're siblings; they don't ever stop...
