So the pup is now called Samson! It was a tough decision between Bailey and Samson but Samson has won. I have had him nearly 2 weeks now. The whining and barking when I leave is getting a little better! I try throughout the day to leave him for a few minutes and he usually just sits and the door waiting for me to come back. A little cry here and there but he is improving! House training has improved ever so slightly as well!! He sleeps on my bed at night so I know he will not go on the bed and he has not since I got him. But when he needs to go he will jump off the bed and just go on the ground. Well the last two days he has jumped of the bed and went to the door!! Cried a little bit yesterday then lay down. I did not know he needed to go because he would usually go straight away. So I just left him and he peed after a few minutes..But today he did the same thing. I got up and let him outside and he peed outside! Woop!! He is still doing it wherever he is downstairs but at least he is starting to get it..
He can now sit and lie down on command. We do a bit of training on our walks so there are distractions. And he listens 80% of the time which is great.
And now to walking..How do I get him to walk on a loose leash? He tries to pull a lot especially when we are on our way home.
Right so..I got asked what he was mixed with the other day. Although he is a purebred labrador. I have no papers for him but I seen both his parents and I seen their papers. The mother is yellow and the father is black. She had 11 pups. I think 4 for yellow and 7 were black. But Samson has a bit of brindling on his legs and face..I have looked up this site called woodhaven which explained brindling and odd colours can happen with labs although it is rare..Is this true?
He is getting on great with the kitten now. They are playing together a bit! The funny and wonderful thing is the kitten is the same colour as him! Black with brown brindling!
Oh and another thing..Socialising. A friend of mine just got an Irish red setter pup. We figured we would get them together to socialise! At first they were both a bit afraid but they ended up running all over the house playing. An biting the ears off each other..Should we let them bite each other?
Because I live beside the beach we go for walks down there and it is always full of dogs..Should I let him near them? If I keep him away will it annoy him? I am asking because we had a dog a few years ago who barked and pulled at every dog he seen! It was embarrassing really! So how do I go about letting him at other dogs. Some owners have let their dogs meet him but most keep walking. He then tries to follow them etc..I tell him to Come on and when he forgets about the dog I click and give him a treat..Should I do anything different?
I think that is it for now!! If anybody reads this thank you!!
