Leg injury in puppy

Please help

My siberian husky pup (5.5 months old) has somehow hurt her rear left leg. I think it's because she took a sharp turn whilst playing with a lab on the field and pulled a muscle.

The strange thing is that the few days following the accident she didn't limp as much as she does now. She limps badly.

She still runs and jumps around but heavily favours her rear right leg. I felt around the whole leg and paw (nothing felt broken) and I think I found a region that was more tender (i.e. when my puppy looked at me as if saying, 'stop, that hurts'). It's the inside thigh. I'm getting really worried...Do you know if I should take her to the vet or wait it out? I love her a lot and I want to do the best thing but the vet is fiendishly expensive so I'd like to know if you guys think I'm just paranoid and should weather it out.

Please help, my heart is breaking for my little dog

Welcome to the forum
I would most definitely not allow the puppy to run and jump around for at least a week. Muscle/tissue injuries need rest to heal. If she likes to swim that is okay...taking her for walks is okay.

Thank you for that, I'll try to keep her in check. So, would you say it'd be better waiting for a week before the vet? Thing is, I don't even know if she's in pain when she's not actively using the leg

A twisted land would more then likely cause tissue/muscle strain. I would give her a week of rest and see how she does. If not using it then have her checked. Even if she tore the ACL it can not get any worse waiting as long as you rest her. Her not using it helps ease any pain she may be having. Other wise she would not be running and jumping around..
