In 2 weeks, I'm going to a birthday party for probably 4 hours. I would like to keep her in her crate, but am becoming anxious already.
She has a bunch of toys and a nylabone in there, and I have a kong that I can freeze. Is there anything that I can add to just make sure she is content? Luckily the hours I will be gone is normally when she is sleeping anyway.
One of the things that helped me most when my puppies were puppies was when a trainer told me "look: puppies need to sleep A LOT. Your puppy needs to be in the kennel frequently, in order to grow and gain weight and facilitate brain development." I think most of us here would rather not leave them in the kennel any more than a couple of hours, but it's my understanding that at that age, up to four hours is okay. So if that's what you have to do occasionally, do it and don't feel guilty. I gather there are some people who leave them in for eight hours while they go to work. I think those people should keep cats, not dogs. But it sounds like you're doing fine. Your puppy will be safe and well-rested while you go and have some fun.
