Murray is 4-5 months, smaller breed 10 lbs.

I take him out on fairly vigorous walks about 3.5 miles (I'm a fast walker).

Anyways, I always encourage him to drink water but he refuses to drink out of anything but his own bowl, he also passes out literally when we get back home from our walk.

What cues should I look for to determine if he's getting pooped or darn near close to that point?

Thanks

Take water with you and offer him a drink periodically, every 10 minutes in hot weather....

He may actually learn to "ask" you for a drink, once he realizes you can give it to him. Just be attentive to him.
