I think you have a lot research to do before you consider looking into a new puppy. Whether they shed or not is just one of the many things you should be learning about. Do you know what the personality traits of this breed is? Their size range? Potential health problems with the breed?

I have a terrier that is double coated. He won't shed his outer coat but if he isn't carded regularly his undercoat will come out with direct contact...but no the dog should not be blowing coat all over the house like a german shepherd or golden retreiver. Do you know if borders are double coated? We don't have a hair problem in our house. You are probably going to have to learn to strip yourself if you get one because it is necessary and also hard to find people who can do it...at least in certain areas.
