I agree it's very sad about the father. The man told me he didn't have his own apt and the place he was staying didn't have AC...And about the picking up stuff it's sooo hard to resist because..I mean..just look at him. He's so sweet. I try to only pick him up if I *have* to. He gets around pretty quickly on his own 4 little pawsies.

Anyways, we named him Baxter. We went to the vet on Weds and got his shots/deworming meds. He cried like a baby and broke my heart when he got his shots but he took the worm meds like a champ, and he loves his daily vitamin. We've started feeding him Blue Buffalo Small breed puppy chicken & oatmeal, it seemed like the only decent food on the shelf of petsmart, and he loves it. It's better than the alpo and beneful crap the other guy was feeding him :/ The bag says for puppies up to to ten pounds they get 1/8-1/4 cups a day, so he's been getting 1/8 cup in the AM and 1/8 cup in the PM. It seems like such a small amount of food but chi's do get fat easily so maybe its about right? Overall he seems like a happy and healthy puppy. He is taking to potty pad and crate training VERY quickly. He only wakes me up once in the middle of the night for a pee break. I wanted to go straight with outdoor training but he is TERRIFIED of being outside, and since I live in the city and we don't really have a yard, I'm going to wait until he has all of his shots to "TRY" to take him for a walk. The one thing that does worry me is that sometimes when we pick him up he growls at us. I've never experienced this with a puppy. The vet said that the people who had him before us probably didn't pick him up right. I've never experienced this with a puppy. Any thoughts? He is also big on humping legs, and our ferret. I hope this stops when we neuter him? lol

I'm not sure how to edit this again, but I had one more question I forgot to add....
There are 3 days of the week where my boyfriend and I have the same work schedule ,2pm-10pm and on those days we crate Baxter in our bedroom. My mom is staying with us for several months which works out great for us because she lets him out of the crate when she gets home around 6:30pm and feeds him his dinner. Depending on what she's doing she'll either watch him or put him back in the crate 30-60mins after his dinner. He has never made an accident in his crate, and he is not really crying anymore when we put him in it. Other than those 3 days he doesn't get crated unless its bedtime, and he doesn't object to going to sleep in his crate. My question is, since he always goes on the potty pads(even if he did make a mistake, we have hardwood floors throughout), could we just leave him confined to our room so he can run around instead of being in the crate all that time? Or do you think he would be destructive? The only thing he tries to destroy while we are home is shoes, lol and those can easily be put out of the way when we are gone. I don't want to be too optimistic and leave him out in the room, and come home to a big mess...but I also don't want to torture him by leaving him in the cage for so long. Any thoughts on this?

I confined Boris to the bathroom the first time I went out. He chewed the sides of the door and I had to replace them. He's always crated when I leave now, and he does fine...
