My other dogs were chosen and trained by my parents, as I was just a child at the time. I really do not wish to jeopardize her future happiness making mistakes at this crucial moment. She is now fully vaccinated. My vet advised to wait a week before taking her anywhere that will overstimulate her, including there. Since she is so afraid of the crater, I am letting her sleep in her own bed, but in my room. Is this a mistake? Thanks

Mistakes are part of life, we learn from them.

If she is happy sleeping in her bed in your room, I don't see it as a problem. Many people share their beds with their dogs. What is important though, is to teach puppies/dogs, that being alone at times is ok.

Hello. Thank you so much for all your replies. At present, she is being introduced to as many different people as possible, both within and without the house. Unlike my previous dogs, who at 13 weeks of age, were quite familiar with a great deal of things, my poor puppy seems to find the unfamiliar at every turn. Today I realized she was hearing birds singing for the first time. I think the barking is getting under control, although today a friend of mine, whose bathroom is being remodelled, came to have a shower and my poor puppy was scared out of her wits by the sight of her with a towel on her head. A final question. Do you socialize your dogs little by little? My other dogs were so used to people when we brought them home that all we did was to build upon existing foundations. With this baby I have to lay down the foundations. I have a number of garden parties to attend to in the next few weeks. Mostly senior citizens present. I was wondering if it would be perilous to take her with me.
