With my vet's blessing, I took Winston out to TSC, PetCo, and Petsmart the day he got his second round of shots. He walked on a leash, through the parking lots, through the stores, and ate the treats people gave him off the floor. Terribly risky, but he enjoyed himself and is okay. This Saturday he gets his final booster and then it's off to TSC for some shopping and the nearby state park for a long walk down the trails on Sunday.

That said, YES! I still look forward to him growing up for several reasons: bladder/bowel control, end of teething, stop harrassing the cats and Pete the Aussie, get big/brave enough to pummel the neighbor's brat terriers when they trespass, get tall enough to not be able to slink under the bottom line of electric pasture fence.

He's going to be a sensible dog, I can just tell, once the puppy phase comes to an end.

I have a new puppy and I haven't been taking him to the dog park because I don't trust people to keep their dogs up-to-date on vaccines and he still needs his third set. But I do take him to visit my friends and family who have dogs who I know are properly cared for and vaccinated, because I want him to be well socialized and used to being on the go - that's how I was with my other dog before I got him.
