Unhappy Dog Walking Service vs Doggy Day Care

Hi All,
I have a 8 1/2 month old Beagle, we bought her only a month ago from a pet shop where she was left in a small cage for 4 months!!

Since having her home, we are beginning to realize the difficulty of house training with her because of the length of time she was in that pet shop!

Ive had puppies previously but nothing seems to be working, tried puppy pads (she chews them up), newspaper, she chews that too...

Solution?

I have found a dog walking service that will come to the house around lunchtime to take her out to walk and pee, as my husband and i work full time so we arent really there to inforce the training during the day and we come home every evening to at least 2 pe pee puddles..

as an alternative we have also found a doggy day care, which would be fantastic as she wouldnt be home alone and would be getting lots of exercise BUT they do not focus on toilet training. She will be in an air conditioned warehouse with other dogs where she can go (pee) when and where she pleases!....

I need help in decided which is the best solution for her, any advice welcome!!

I would go ahead and use the day care because beagles need lots of exercise and mental stimulation. Maybe try this at home to teach where to go House training a puppy or rescue - YouTube and use a kennel at night. It was always the easiest way to train a rescue when I got them.

I love doggy day care. Where our pup goes there are designated potty areas for the dogs. Did you get a tour of the facility and get to ask about that issue?

We love day care because he gets to interact with other dogs in a safe environment. Also, he gets time away from us so doesn't show signs of anxiety when we aren't around.

Personally I've never used puppy pads or paper for housetraining... just take the pup out a lot at first. There's great info in this post:

Coconut does daycare on Wed. and she LOVES it. I would definitely tour the facility and ask them how they rotate dogs and keep them safe. Some places (big box stores for example) aren't very good about screening and will put too many dogs together who don't get along and not enough supervision. The place I use rotates the dogs hourly (they get some down time), does temperament screenings, and always has a lot of staff on-hand.

If it all checks out, I think it is much better than a dog walking service. I think the potty training is something that is going to take more consistency that a walker can provide. The other benefit of doggy day care that I've noticed with Coconut is that she is MUCH more friendly with strange dogs than before. It has done wonders for her socialization and she is mildly reactive.
