Digging up my yard - AAGH!!

- My 12 week old is developed a new hobby...she is digging up my yard.

- I'm out there with her, but she'll rip over to one side of the yard and start digging as fast as she can until I get there to deter her.
- Then she rips to the other side and does it again!

- What's everyone doing to deter their "little diggers"??

- All help is appreciated!!

I was going to ask if you'd figured out why she was digging, but I can tell that it's because she thinks it awesome fun LOL.

Personally I'd give her a sand box to dig in. You'd fill a kiddy pool with sand and hide some toys in it and show her that digging there is the most fun.

Almost sounds like she is playing a game with you, I dig, dig, dig,--here comes Mom, yeah, run to the other side, dig, dig, dig---Here comes Mom.

Seriously, I can't give an answer, I have the same issue with Sam who is 9mos old,
Husband fills in hole, Sam watches, looks at him, and will just start digging in the same spot.
I am anxious for any answers you may get.
You are not alone.

Hide some poop in the places where they dig can help. Dogs dont like to find their poop or set up a sandbox.

- It's more like...Almost sounds like she is playing a game with you, I dig, dig, dig,--here comes DAD, yeah, run to the other side, dig, dig, dig---Here comes DAD.

- I've been putting Hot Sauce on the area which she hates, but she just moves to a different spot.

- I'm thinking a paint gun would work well...

I've mommy sanctioned digging. We go out, I point out a ground animal hole and the hunters take turns digging it up with a pushy St Bernard giving it a swipe or two when he feels motivated. Pyr and Akbash don't dig, ever.

I like fmm's method, may as well give them an outlet! We have a big garden area that the dogs can dig in--Soph loves to dig when she is playing with the other dogs. They don't ever dig in the yard: the sand is much better.

Ps. You are not serious with the paint ball gun, I hope???
