first of all you are right - miniature siberian huskies as well as alaskan klee kai will still get think coats which are primarily set out for cold weathers. Plus they will shed at least twice a year.
but there are some further, essential questions you probably need to answer yourself first:
- What is your current lifestyle & how much time are you able and willing to invest in your dog?
e.g. miniature siberian huskies and alaskan klee kai are still araising from working dogs - they need to have sufficient physical and mental stimulation. They require still a enourmous amout of exercise plus these dogs are highly intelligent, which often makes their behaviour a bit complicated when they get bored...
Also, they are prone to chase other animals - however they are usually friendly with other dogs and humans.
A Westi would probably be more suitable in regards to living in an apartment with a small yard. they require not as much exercise as the husky and klee kai (allthough they still need to work out!!). Usually a Westie's temperament is friendly, but they are very passionate guards - e.g. they can bark a lot. consider this if you live in a apartment block where this could disturb the neighbours...
however, why don't you just have a look in a local shelter and talk to the staff there. those dogs are desperate for a loving home and the staff will sure help you making the right decision. Plus mongrels are just as wonderful as pure-breds, but with less genetic health issues ...
why not give it a try?
