Great post, kmes, shows some serious insight into the resourcefulness of the breed. And sassiness. Don't forget sassiness.

I used to work at a trail ranch, and we had a man that would ride a segway to take pictures of the customers riding horses. He had a little minpin named Foxy Brown, and boy was she a bucket of sass and a half! It took that dog so long to get used to me, and once she did I would carry her around in my jacket and she would bark and snap at anyone that came near. She would consistently bark at anyone walking near the man's tent, and leap onto his computer when he wasn't giving her the attention she demanded. As you said, the desk his computer sat on was a good deal taller than the dog. Sass. And. A. Half.

Man the terriers get a bad rap on this board...I guess real life too!

My first scottie had several diff groomers over his life and they always told me he was the nicest they ever met. My vet was shocked too. This one I took to the vet and had them clip his nails the first time the vet clipped he jumped back avoiding a bite...which my dog didn't even flinch. He said "oh he's nice..." like he was surprised. Poor lil misunderstood terriers LOL

I get what y'all are saying b/c there are some terriers that are a complete nightmare that I've seen in public but thankfully for some reason I have never had that problem with one of mine....though I did think this one was heading that way. Who knows, he's still young!

I would not go see puppies unless I was determined to get a dog. You WILL come home with a dog. That's how we got our first when really we should have left him where he was (bad breeder, tons of health issues that came out). I am glad he had a nicer life with us but man...he broke our hurts (and our wallets!). You live, you learn. They are NEVER gonna say a bad word about their dogs. The dog in the pic doesn't look like a good version of a min pin BUT he looks chunky so that could be it. At the very least you know they are not watching their breed stock's weight/health like they should.

Please know that I am saying this with complete respect!
Personally I would be wary of this breeder. Like already mentioned they are saying many of the right things, but I'm not seeing it in their actions.

There were some pedigrees listed. 2 had only a single titled dog several generations back. The other 2 pedigrees did include more titled dogs, but personally I would expect far more titled dogs than I saw listed. And again the titled dogs were several gererations back (great grandparents, great great grandparents, etc.)

The breeder has no photos of her dogs winning in the show ring and doesn't list any titles on any Min Pins. And while I am not an expert on the standard (I do not show in conformation or breed), many of the dogs shown on the site do not adhere as closely to the breed standard as they should if being shown. For example Jabik, their only stud at this time doesn't have erect ears. While he certainly is cute, the breed standard calls for erect ears no matter if they are cropped or natural.
The MPCA has a really nice illustrated standard here.
MPCA | Illustrated Breed Standard - General Appearance

I do not see the results of any genetic or health testing for any of their min pins.

They do not appear to belong to the Miniature Pinscher Club of America (not listed on the breeder referral page) or even any local kennel clubs (normally breeders list affiliations).

Edit:
I popped the registered names and numbers for Natasha and Jabik onto the search feature on the OFA webite. Nothing popped up. So unless there is some sort of issue or they were just tested very recently (but should have been tested well before any litters were planned) the breeder just did not do any OFA tests. You can also search for result on the CERF website, but I kinda doubt there will be any results there.

kmes,

I'd like to thank you for taking all the time you did to look into that for me. I feel a little deflated now I'll admit. I was really excited about this, but should have known it was just too good to be true.

Thanks everyone else as well for your time with this! Glad I found these forums!

Thank you for coming on and asking! We get so many new posters who just bought a puppy at a pet store or BYB. It's really disheartening.

Kristy, I really don't want to discourage you!
So hopfully you'll forgive me! I just felt I should be honest!

I think its really great that you are concerned about the breeder you choose! Many people never give it a second thought!

We will gladly help you in your search for a reputable breeder!
Or if you want a puppy/dog sooner, then rescue might be a very good option! You can ceck out Min Pins and Min Pin mixes in your area pretty easily on petfinder.com. There are always a ton listed there and all are in need of a loving home!

Kristy we see a lot of min pins in my rescue, okay not as many as chihuahuas, but still a good amount! Check out your local rescues and shelters while you search for breeders I cannot thank you enough for checking into them! Good for you and good luck!

KristiB you can also try a website called Petharbor in case your local places don't use petfinder.
