I would use only the crate. Get her use to one thing. Put one of your dirty shirts in the kennel for her to cuddle with. You can also put a stuffed animal and a portable clock (simulate heart beat) so she does not feel alone in there. Do not get her out when she is whining. Wait till she is quiet to take her out. A puppy will settle if you ignore them. Get her into a routine to help her start learning to hold her potty. Take her out before putting her in it...take her out as soon as you wake. She will probably have accidents in the kennel, just clean it up and say nothing. She will learn how to hold it as she gets older.

She is lonely and scared. Puppies will whine like that at night. Is there anyway you can have her curl up with you? like sleep on the floor with her. I wouldn't say this if she wasn't so young. What about giving her a fluffy soft toy to curl up with and one of your smelly t shirts??? Could you put the basket on the bed with you so you can reach in? She might need to go potty or is hungry too.
You might just have to endure several weeks of the whining until she is old enough to be trained. I know I would have her sleep with me! But then I am a mom, lol.

I would not let her sleep with you until she is house trained. Any accident in the house can delay the training..

I would set up a little area with either a pen or baby gates and with the open crate, her food and water and the puppy pad. At this age, it is not fair to have them locked in a crate as they have to pee and poo very often and it will get her in the habit of going in her crate. At six weeks they have no control over when they have to go so you won't be able to really start potty training her for a little while yet.

I have an eight week old puppy and I have her trained to use a litter box. She is very good about going in it. Right now she is too young and it is just too cold for her to go outside.

Even if they did give her a shot, at six weeks it probably would not be very much use as she would have still had immunity from her mother.

You should use a pen with a bed or crate and a pee area because they cant hold it at this age. The crate is for night time only at this age. They need to be able to move around during the day and have a place to relieve themselves. Pups at this age will go in the crate and you don't want them to go where they sleep, its a very hard habit to break.
