6 week puppu

Hi i have a 6 week old puppy. I didnt know you werent suppose to have a puppy this early but there isntanything i can do now as the owner has already gotten rid of the mother and tje other pups so i couldnt give her back for a couple of weeks. I was reaxing on the socialization and we have a 4.5 year old dog and i didnt know if that would help the pup or what i should do. I mean right now they dmt like to be around eachother but we have only had the pup for 3 days now. I dont know if i need to do special things for her since she is so young and how to train her to go to sleep through the night. she goes good on her puppy pad but we found out she has worms which were taking her to the vet this week for but we were told she had her first set of shots and were dewormed but i guess that was a lie. Pls help any advice would be helpful i just want our puppy to be ok anx nothing happen to her

Congrats on the new addition
Did you get a kennel for the puppy?
Be sure to feed at least three times a day. Dry food with water mixed in.
What breed is the pup?
What breed is the 4.5 yr dog?
Where is the pee pad?
Most say they gave worm med and one shot. Most vets will treat the pup as it has not had anything. So do not worry about the worms and vac. The vet will help you there..

You would still see worms with a deworming as they die off. You really don't want to over vaccinate your pup as it does lower the immune system. Why dont you believe the people you got the pup from.

Give the two dogs time to come together on their own. They will get use to each if not forced to.
As for where she eats. It is okay if she likes to eat by her kennel.
If she whines in the kennel put one of your dirty shirts in there so she has your scent to cuddle with. You can also put a stuffed animal and a portable clock to simulate a heart beat. This way she does not feel she is alone.

Dawn- I do not trust a breeder that says they have done anything unless I see a vet report or the label off the vaccine vial. It makes them sound good but can harm the puppy if not actually done. Also some breeders buy vaccines from feed stores and do not check the expiration date. I always sold puppies with a shot record..all records had the labels attached as well as deworming date and medication used. Puppies I purchased came with the same.

YOU NEED TO READ UP ON BITE INHIBITION AS A PRIORITY! A puppy this young learns from his mother certain developmental tasks which include biting/not biting. He does not have his mom or sibs to teach him this so you will have to do it!!!

Congratulations! Pics would be good! Maybe reward your dog with high level treats for cuddling with your pup!!! If you have a cat sometimes they will curl up with the puppy too!!

Feed small amounts at least three times a day. A puppy that old will not need a lot so can not eat a lot. I would say 1 tablespoon 3-4 times a day mixed with a little water. My full grown chihuahuas get 1 tablespoon twice a day..the larger one get 2 tablespoons twice a day with a little water.
