I love houlas! They are so anxious to please everybody. Luke has houla for sure. I wish our Addy wasn't so developmentally stunted due to her neglect as a puppy and lack of human contact. I don't think she will ever be comfortable around people...but I am happier that she just freezes instead of fear biting, thank goodness. When she goes to the vet she will put her nose on the wall and just stand like a rock. It freaks the vet out all the time. Love her so much!!! My daughter is a school psychologist and I did social work...all behaviorally oriented...I figure if we can't help her...welll.....

OMG! Yes, they body check ALL THE TIME! They use the behavior when herding wild boar into a pen..lol. Addison used to do this with all the dogs at the dog park until another big dog put her head over heels, it was soooo funny. (she wasn't hurt at all). The look on her face was so priceless....Like Oh, I guess I shouldn't do that with dogs!
Our older houla tried to insert herself between Addy and the other dog...but finally gave up on it. I doubt that the body checks will continue! You should see my houlas when they meet another houla mix, it is fascinating...they team up and head into the thickets looking for pigs in a team of three...which is what they were bred for. So amazing that they recognize each other as houlas!!!
