Hello Tess, I have a question for you about crate training.. I have a that is about 12 weeks old. The breeder I bought her from was using an excerise pen and puppy pads to housebreak her. I have quickly realized this is NOT a good option and I have resorted to crate training (as of today) and I want to make sure I am doing this correctly. I placed her in the crate (no bedding) at 12:30pm and checked on her in 45 minutes. Took her out and placed her on the puppy pad. After a few moments of her not being interested in using the pad I placed her back into the crate. I did this again in another 45 minutes nothing.. Again in 30 minutes still no interest. However the moment I placed her back into her crate and I walked out of the room she pee'd in her crate.. Needless to say she let me know real quick something was wrong. I took her out of crate cleaned it out, bathed her and placed her back in crate.. No free time and no reward because she had an accident.. Am I on the right track?

    Hi Tess,

You commented on a post I was reading and wondered if you'd be able to help.

I have a 10 week old Beagle puppy (well actually a Puggle but he looks just like a beagle.)

He is very affectionate with me, and cuddles me all day most of the day. He also has play times but is very close to me when he plays.

He is a very calm and placid dog, and lovely mannered. However in the evening when my partner gets home he is wild, won't sit still, running around and won't relax. In the day he's completely different - still chews stuff but his toys but when doing so he will relax and chew them. It's literally when my partner comes through the door.

He's like a different dog, do you have any idea why this might be?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Megan

    Hi Tess,

I saw your comments on a previous thread about aggression in Cocker Spaniels ([url]https://www.dogforum.com/dog-training-behavior/growling-snarling-baring-teeth-when-tired-17235/page1/). It would be wonderful if you could take a look at the thread I have just started ([url]https://www.dogforum.com/introductions/need-help-aggression-two-year-old-145434/#post1759234) and let me know if you have any suggestions.

    Many thanks!

I appreciate your input on my thread Tess. Your suggestions make sense and you're not judgemental. We've been doing everything you suggest but unfortunately, we're just not seeing any positive results. I'll look up those threads you indicated and contact that member.

    Cheers,

    Chris
