Yet another dog enthusiast/forum member :)

Hello all!
My name is Meghan, and i'm just introducing myself (and my four-legged children of course); my dogs are Dublin the labrador, and Reilly or "Boo" the Italian greyhound (mix). (I would love to post pics, but i'm using my phone for internet so it's not cooperating enough to let me use Photobucket). Their pics are on their lil' profiles.

I have been a dog lover my entire life, have worked as a pet sitter/dog walker for 4 years, and am currently an apprentice in a service dog training school. I have been training my clients' dogs, friends' dogs and my own since '05 and it's my life!

I'm also owned by 2 cats, Chloe and Juno or "Junebug", a rat named Ruby, a turtle name Frankie, and a goldfish named Bob.

I have 'lurked' this forum for many years and finally decided to join, so hello! Looking forward to getting to know you all, and learning more and more from the plethora of knowledgeable people on here!

Thanks for listening to my long-winded introduction, and Happy Holidays to you all!

Hi and welcome! What kind of turtle do you have? I absolutely love turtles, I have a 4yr old RES myself.

Happy Holidays to you!

Thanks guys! Photobucket's workin for me now so i'm gonna go and post some pics of the boys. (and maybe one of my 7-toed cat lol)

Kat and Guinness-Frankie is a RES too! He's about a year and a half old, so he's still only about 5" long. It seems the boys stay smaller than the girls?

Amanda-Thanks! I wanted it to be another Irish name and I've already had a Murphy so it was either Finnegan or Dublin and we went with Dublin; it's just such a beautiful place!

Yeah the boys stay smaller but they get the longer magnificent nails. I have a female and she's pushing about 8 inches right now.

Welcome! How fabulous that you are learning to train service dogs. What kind of things do you do at this point in your training?

Thank you! At this point in my apprenticeship we're only 2 classes in so we're still going over the basics of kennel etiquette, proper leash holding, etc, so it's pretty boring for me thus far haha, but there are people in our class that have never trained a dog before. I have already worked at a service dog breeding/raising/training company, where I learned more about basic obedience as well as service dog training tasks and commands, such as touch, under, brace, retrieve, hold it, get help, etc. The place i'm at now trains seizure alert dogs, which I have no experience in and am looking forward to learning. My favorite part of working with the younger service pups in training is target touch, it's just so fun! I'm 'making do' using a (clean lol) fly swatter to teach my boy Dublin 'touch', and he absolutely loves nosing the large handicapped buttons on doors.
