New member!

Hello, my name is Francisco, I live in Utah and currently work for GE Healthcare. In a few weeks I will be bringing an American Akita home! I've done months of research already but joined the forum for the opportunity to learn more and to get tips on raising my new puppy so if you have any advice please share it with me

Hi, and welcome! Congrats on the new dog, and preparing ahead of time is absolutely brilliant on your time. When your puppy arrives, we really like pics!

I don't know anything about what you've learned/read, so my advice may or may not be applicable, but my hope is that you are focusing on positive training methods, rather than the outdated dominance techniques, which are unfortunately all too common still.

Thank you everyone! I promise to post pictures! I was reading that the best way to train an Akita is by respecting it and being respected so I'm going to keep that in mind when I start training. I mainly want to ignore any unwanted behavior and praise all the desirable behavior. If you have any good articles to point me too that would be great. He's about 5 weeks in the picture below.
