New introduction while waiting for my application approval

Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce - I've been thinking about getting a dog for close to 10 years and finally feel I'm fully ready to take the plunge. I recently started looking at rescues and petfinder. I just moved to a new place and am mostly settled. About 2 weeks ago I went to petco with a friend and a rescue was there for an adoption day and I saw a dog that just grabbed me like none has before. He's a Brussels griffon/jack Russell mix with a Brussels head and a jack Russell body. Neither was what I was looking for (was focused on a schnauzer, various terrier mix) but something about his demeanor just screamed this is right. Except the timing was all wrong - I wasn't so settled at that point and I had some vacations coming up so I took a quick look from afar and shut it down. But I couldn't get him out of my head for several days so I did a lot of googling to figure out the rescue that was there and which dog he might be. I figured the timing would rarely be "right" so I put in my application and knew that I would make it work - cancelling a vacation if need be. The application has been taking a while - its been a week and a half but should be approved soon. I can't wait! I feel really ready and know it's going to pose a lot of challenges but the right challenges. I still need to meet him in person to confirm and hoping he won't be adopted before I'm approved. I used to follow another forum through about I think a number of years ago and learned so much - so I'm excited to engage here as I go through the process. Thanks in advance!

Thanks everyone!!

I know the rescue talked to my landlord and got responses from my references. Not sure why they are dragging their feet. Any advice as I embark on this journey?

I got him! Met him last night and adopted him tonight. He's really fantastic. We're calling him Otto for now to try it out (I think it will stick though).

For his debut he decided to hack up a large white something onto the woman siting next to me on the subway!
