Hi all - My name is Molly and I have German Shepherds and Chihuahuas. I breed and rescue both breeds. The GSDs are German Working and Show lines, I am involved in Schutzhund sport and breeding sound dogs that can work in any venue with the temperament to be a family companion as well. The chihuahuas go to schutzhund training too :) and do some fun agility and obedience, learn tricks and basically make me smile. I don't breed many chi litters but when I do they are bred for top bloodlines, health and temperament.

I hope to share pictures here and I'm happy to answer any questions, I will chip in if I have input otherwise I mainly lurk (unless people want to see pictures - I love to take pictures and share them) molly

Well Schutzhund was developed as a breed test for the GSD. It has become a sport, but is still focused on the GSD, no changes have been made and no accomodations are made for size of dog. So every dog has to bite the "big hard sleeve", jump the 3 meter jump (without touching it) and climb the 6' wall - retrieve the 3-5 lb dumbbell. So you see the difficulty (and impossibility) of competing with a small-sized dog. But, certainly people who do schutzhund and who own small dogs play around with it just for fun.

I think Im wording my question poorly... :)

Im familiar with the sport, ( follow Ellis and Ivan here and there) I know about the literal "Wall" in their way..lol Im not a competitive person, and wouldn't compete even if I could. The dog has the foundation, drive and nerve to do all the tasks that hes physically capable of. He knows many of the drills already. I was more interested in it for fun and wear his butt out. I don't think my husband would like if if I spent a ton of money on a bitesuit and made him wear it in this heat...lol

I guess im asking, is at what size will a training club not laugh at me and hang up the phone...

That would completely depend on the training club. As I mentioned, I'm training in a club already with my GSDs. I am a very serious trainer and competitor. My chihuahua comes with me to training and yes we fool around a little with her, for laughs. If you were already involved with a club and brought your little dog out for laughs and giggles - probably any club would do that. But joining a club with your small dog - probably would be difficult to find a club that would give a spot to someone who is just interested in the sport for fun with a small dog who will never title. But, doesn't hurt to ask around.
