Introduction - Hello

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and wanted to say hello. My boyfriend and I have two dogs, a Bull Mastiff and Pit Bull/Mastiff mix, 6 weeks ago my female dog had puppies, It was not necessarily planned but my boyfriend wanted her to have at least one litter before we fixed her. She had the puppies Jan. 7, 2014 and had 7 pups and only 5 survived. We had to help her have them as this was her first litter, but we found a good home for one, now I am stuck with the other 4. (Boyfriend wants to keep them all, I say no.. ) I just dropped the momma dog off to the vets to get her fixed, she has not been a good momma dog, I have never been a breeder nor do I plan on it again. Puppies are cute but take alot of time and energy and this, I just dont have a lot of patience for. The puppies are doing great and growing fast, but I have some questions thus why I joined here. Maybe someone can help... My momma dog walked away from the pups at 3 weeks and only feeds them now when she feels like it. I understand she is weaning them and they are almost weaned, on hard foods and soft food. Question is this, Why would my momma dog chase the nieghbor who lives about 3 yard lengths down into her house with her dog when she wasnt on our property? Was this a act of defending or something more. Our dog is agressive to the puppies and pile drives them into the ground when playing with them and grabs thier faces. She isnt harsh in a sense with them but looks like she is trying to eat thier faces... She isnt growling or anything, Just seems a little agressive to them. She doesnt spend time with them but to feed them and even at that its for literally 2 minutes then she walks away from them. Is this normal?
