This is my absolute favorite picture of Otis...It was taken in April of 06, ater a lot of work to get him healthy. When I got him he had no fur from chin to belly, had eye & ear infections and had such large sores on his feet that he couldn't walk. He was just so handsome and sweet. He really was a Mama's boy. He loved being on the dock with me at the lake where I live. He had his own life vest, rode on the boat and went swimming every chance he got.

Ladipyg-it sounds to me like you were absolutely born to rescue!! You are beyond kind to take on all these hard animals who were in desperate situations

It hurts beyond measure when they leave us for the bridge-but you made such a difference in their lives and I know you got that love back in spades Otis and Moose and others owe their lives to you-you saved them. Obviously no one else was there for them, and then you were-you were their Angel.

Thanks....I know I will rescue again...I just can't help it. 3 weeks ago while driving one of the country roads out here I saw a puppy out by himself...VERY young...I pulled over to double check if someone was there with him or if something else was going on. Found 3 other pups already dead with the cold n rain that day...so I got him in the car and the next morning he was at the vet's getting checked out. I kept him 3 weeks while I waited for the family who was going to take him move into their new home. The girls had been caring the puppy's picture around telling all who would listen that their new puppy was coming home soon. He left the same day as Otis...I almost thought of keeping him but I couldn't do it to the girls. That is going to be one spoiled puppy.

When the time is right I will hit the county shelter and rescue a couple of dogs...what the heck...I am living on 20 acres in the country...why not? And no....my dogs are not outside dogs...they have always shared my home...and couch...a bed...oh, more spoiled dogs for sure....

I know in my heart Otis would want some other dog to get the chance that he was given....

I am so sorry for your loss. But everyone is right you gave Otis the best 5 years of his life! Both Otis and Moose are adorable.

Well, I heard from Harley's new parents today...they and the girls LOVE their little boy to pieces. The 3 year old was playing non-stop tug of war with Harley and kept telling him..."my toy". Becky says at this rate she can buy both the girls doggie toys for Christmas cause that's all they want. No accidents in the house...I worked hard for 3 weeks to get him used to going outside. Becky always has cold feet and it was like Harley knew what to do to get in. He laid on Becky's feet the first night in bed and kept her toasty warm. She said she was in heaven.

The bad news was Moose, my terrier mix began vomiting Sunday morning and everything he tried to eat within hours he was vomiting again. I was WAITING at the vets office at 7:30 Monday morning....they didn't open until 9 but I know they go in early. They had to keep him overnight....first losing Otis and now this...I am going to lose whatever marbles I have left. This is the first time since I got Moose that he has been away from me....I miss the little bugger. Hope he will be OK. I made a 40 mile trip back to the vet when I found out he was going to have to stay overnight to bring him Otis' old blanket. I figured the smell would comfort him. Just venting...thanks
