Hey there! I am new to this forum, and hopefully we can stick around!
I have been an animal lover my whole life, and I've grown up owning a Westie, who is still alive at 15years of age, and doing pretty good, aside from lack of control of her bladder and her sight! But recently, December 5th, 2011, to be exact, my boyfriend and I adopted a dog at a shelter.
We have been talking about getting a dog for a long time now, but we didn't do it because of our living situation, we were living with roommates and we wanted to wait until we bought a house. Well, to get our "puppy-fix" we were visiting this shelter in our area almost every weekend to just look at the cute little puppies, and one sunday we went to the shelter and I fell inlove.. and just had to have this pup named Louie! Long story short, we went home because I couldn't convince the boyfriend, but I convinced him the next day, and we went back for him monday. Well, turns out hes aggressive towards other animals, so that didn't work out, seeing as we have 3 cats, and we want another dog in the future... but while we were there we saw a bunch of "new dogs" and one was especially cute.. "Fluffy" was her name!
And she stole our hearts in a beat! We adopted her and took her home. She is a chihuahua mix.. can't quite pin exactly what she is mixed with, but she is so darn cute! And she is about 5months old now. She was estimated to be 4months when we got her. She is perfect! Mike and I aren't really small dog people, we are more of big dog people, but she is exactly what we needed/wanted at this time!
She knows how to do tricks like sit, lie down, roll over and she knows how to show me her tummy on command
We are also starting puppy classes at the end of the month and we are so excited! We are both SO inlove with her!
We are working on housetraining her.. having accidents whenever we don't pay attention to her for even just a MINUTE and she runs into the other room. It does kind of get frustrating, but we blame it on ourselves more than her... I just wish she'd let us know she has to go!
