This is more of a re intro as I'm not sure I ever introduced myself. I posted a couple of times almost a year ago and things have drastically changed since.
I won't go into details but the dog I posted about had to be put down because her age finally caught up with her. As difficult and high maintenance as that dog was, I missed her, much to my surprise. Right after I took her to the vet I vowed never to have another pet because it was so sad. That resolution lasted about an hour.
As much as I've always loved dogs and grew up them, when I moved away my lifestyle was more conducive for cats, living alone in an apt, long work hours, etc. It wasn't until I retired that I finally was able to get a dog, and my new condo was great for it because it's on the first floor with outside entrances. Only drawback is no fenced yard, but oh well.
Anyway, I went on Craigslist because I truly hate going to shelters because I truly hate going to shelters. I hit the jackpot almost immediately. He was one of those lucky dogs who was snatched from scheduled euthanasia by angels in southern California who rescue viable, healthy dogs who will be euthanized because there are simply too many. This woman in SoCal apparently doesn't foster but arranges transport to WA state where there's a whole network of foster homes. I had no idea how common this was but I was glad to help.
His name is Kiefer (after Sutherland, yeah I'm that shallow. )It wasn't until my sister pointed out that meefer (my user name) which I rarely think about, was my siblings childhood nickname for me.
Sorry this went on so long. One would thing that after 10 weeks I'd be less gushy about him, but I'm just so thrilled to have a low maintenance dog that loves to cuddle but isn't needy.
