Hi from Indiana! :D

Hi, I'm Cathi from Indiana.

I am a stay at home mom to 4 girls. We got our first rough Collie, Beau, just before he was 8 weeks old. He is now 10 months old. I have been trying to convince my husband that Beau needed a playmate.

Well, today we brought home another tricolor rough Collie. His name is Jack. Beau and Jack adore each other. They both try to 'dominate' each other by mounting behavior. They have played all day- chasing, running, herding, barking at each other. Its like they are long-lost brothers!

Our Beau is about 26 1/2 inches at the withers and 72 lbs. By comparison, Jack is only about 24-25 inches at the withers and a mere 44 lbs! The poor guy needs to put on about 15-20 lbs. He is very skinny, but we will work on that. His coat is pretty rough and I spent two hours getting all the knots out of his ears. I'm sure with continued grooming, a bath and TOTW food, he will start to look beautiful again!

My girls love him and he is so good with them. Beau is thrilled and worn out and I have a new boy to love. The kids love the new addition to the family.

Only the resident mini dachshund isn't too thrilled. She doesn't care for Beau too much either. He was always trying to play with her and got to rough. Jack fits the bill perfectly. I am so thankful for that young couple that saved him from the shelter and let us take him into our home.

Welcome in from another Hoosier (transplanted to Eastern Kentucky). Beau and Jack are so handsome. Are both or either neutered?

Welcome to the Forum, Cathi!
Beau and Jack do look like a perfect match, for each other.
They are gorgeous - but I wanna see your dachshund too!

Thank you for the welcome!

Margie is her name. She is sweet but definitely tries to rule the roost. She wants to sniff the boys, but they are not allowed to sniff her! She will launch off my daughter's laps at the boys if she doesn't like them getting too close. That is something my MIL has always allowed, so she does it with us too. I just make the girls put her down on the floor and wait for her invitation to come back up.

Actually Margie is my dear mother in law's. She lives with us. My mother in law is staying with her son in Colorado for 3 months, so Margie is our charge for right now. My mother in law and Margie do normally live with us. So that is a our family dynamic.

She is very sweet and lovable and pretty tolerant of my 8 yr olds. The 6 yr old is a bit pushy for her and too 'in her face', so she has been growled at a few times.

Jack was just neutered last week before we got him. Beau will be neutered within the month or two..I want to wait until he is closer to 1 yr. Both my boys are kept in the house and have a nice big fenced in yard in which to play (all day since they met each other!). Beau is on limited AKC registration and I will not be breeding him. My boys will NEVER run loose. Thank you for the compliments on my boys! And thank you for the welcome!

Thank you for the welcome! The boys just adore each other. I have to send them outside all the time because they start getting rowdy! I have some good pics of Margie too. I'll see if I can get them posted.
