Hi everyone a bit about me

Hi

I live in New Zealand with my husband and 3 kids. We are on a small lifestyle block (just under an acre). We have a cat, chickens, rabbits and a few of sheep.

Our amazing 9 year old curly coated retriever Gus passed away due to bone cancer just over 6 months ago. We are about to bring home a new puppy (springer spaniel) in a week and a half...feeling very nervous.

I have done a lot of browsing through the forums over the last few weeks trying to gear myself up again.

Welcome!
I'm so sorry about Gus, I hope he rests in peace.

Congratulations on your future-dog! Any names in mind, yet?

thanks Tricolorterrier

We are thinking about calling the new puppy Ted. Also need to think of a pedigree name, I have no ideas for that one yet.

Hi RinTinTin,

My family had a springer spaniel mix years ago. Wonderful dog. I miss her.

Sorry about Gus. That must be him in your avatar.

Welcome!

I'm so sorry to hear about Gus! It's hard to lose a furry family member.
I just got a puppy almost two weeks ago. The first week was not easy, but this week is better! I know you aren't new to dog ownership, but be prepared for a first week of roller coaster emotions. It gets better pretty quickly, though! Be sure to post puppy pictures! : )

So sorry for your loss. Hopefully your new pup will help fill that void a bit.

I look forward to hearing how your new puppy does. Please keep us posted

Welcome. I'm sorry about your Gus--if sharing photos of him doesn't make you too sad (I'd understand), I'd love to see photos of him. (He looks like a handsome, sweet boy in your avatar.)

Also, good luck with your new pup. Seems like you have a knack for picking breeds I like!
