Hi everybody.

Hi

My name is Patricia I'm 28 years old and I live in the Netherlands.
I totally love animals, like to play The Sims 3 and I deliver mail as a day job.

I also like to read forums about animals. I have had a cat, rats (20+), 6 hamsters, a rabbit and 2 guinea pigs as pets.
But my dream was always a dog

And that dream finally came true in February of this year when I got my very first dog Dexter

He was classified as a dog with behavior problems

Short history:
-And he was born in Poland in 2010.
-Abused by a man as a puppy.
-Went to animal shelter in Poland.
-was transported to the Netherlands.
-lived with a family until he was adopted.
-was adopted (Sept 2011)
-was placed up for adoption again (Feb 2012)
-I adopted him (Feb 2012)

His problems:
-Scared of men (bites)
-uncontrollable/unstoppable
-very high energy
-did not know basic commando's but was house trained and could stay home alone for a view hours

And I totally love him he is perfect for me
I have always liked animals with "behavior problems" more because I like to help them and "crack the code" so to speak.

Maybe because I'm different to (I have classic autism and was diagnosed in 2009)

And here are a view pictures of Dexter and my guinea pig Spikey (who also has behavior problems )

The day I got him:

He looks so unhappy in a "what the heck just happened" kind of way

and now:

And Spikey (same guinea pig in both pictures he just had a haircut):

Hi there Patricia, and welcome! Your pictures are lovely. I especially like the one where Dexter seems to be resting his chin on that colourful toy of his. My Poppy does that too, it's too funny!

Poppy too, has some behavioural problems, we adopted her in June 2011 at the age of 4! We don't know her history but she has displayed some behaviour that makes me think she may have been mistreated by someone.

I hope you will be successful in breaking Dexter's "code" or at least be able to manage his envioronment to prevent any unwanted behaviour from him, especially biting!

This forum has a lot of knowledgeable people willing to help us out, so don't be shy starting new threads and ask away!

P.S. There are also lots of stickies for each forum subject, those will definitely get you started on learning some new tricks on how to help Dexter!
