Hey There from California

Found this forum last night & I am not really new to dogs or anything. I have been helping and volunteering if different parts of Dog Rescue since 2001 {I was 15 or 16}. Up until about 2-3 years ago, I have always had five dogs. I know that seems like a lot, but I have a huge house, lots of help & very easy pups. Mitzi was my oldest She was a rescue {adopted from a rescue group}, Yorkie/Poodle Mix. Mackenzie was a pomeranian I rescued from a bad living situation. Noel I adopted from the shelter with my husband {plucked her right off the truck myself! lol}. Don't hate me, Tink, was purchased Lapse of judgement. I wanted a nice lap dog for my son {Who was premature and slightly developmentally disabled} so I wanted to know she'd be small. And than Sparta is my son heart dog. This dog basically lives for my son, He was rescued from the Euth. Room by a rescue group and I adopted him. I will have to upload pictures later.

Mitzi & Mackenzie have since passed. Mitzi at the ripe old age of 14, naturally, Just went to sleep. Mackenzie was a little more traumatic. She had a bad heart we were treating with meds from the vet. She ate dinner that night started running around playing and than just died. She just collapsed and passed. The vet said it was probably a heart attack. It was HORRIBLE. So I've been about 6 months since Mitzi passed, almost 3 years since Mackenzie passed away. These were MY dogs, you know. I had them before I had a son or a husband.

So long story short, I got a call this afternoon about a male 7 year old long haired chihuahua needing rescue. I am leaving my heart open, but I know I need a dog for ME. That doesn't have attachments to other people 1st. Any suggestions on making his transition easier? I will meet him Saturday.
