I'm new to the forum; my name is Sam and I am a dog trainer. I've been working with dogs since I was 17 (I am now 23). I am working on becoming a Certified Vet Tech, and my intention is to get my behavioral certification, in addition to either my emergency nurse or my equine nurse certification...I can't decide which, maybe both! I have the most experience in basic (I say household) obedience, and I can train a dog up to the CGC level; I have also been exposed to Shutzen training (not a fan, I think the trainers are too harsh, but I am considering becoming an agitator because I think it would be fun) as well as formal obedience, all the way up to dogs who have their otch.
I have no dogs as of right now; my philosophy is that I work with them, so I don't know if I want to have one with me at home too....I do have a cat, who is pretty much like a dog, and my plan is in the next 8-12 months save up the cash to buy a decent, show worthy Australian Cattle Dog and get into Rally and herding trials to really build up my trainer cred
I do also want to adopt from a local private rescue (one I previously worked at, I know JUST the dog I want haha) in the near future as well.
I am a Florida native, currently living in the Tampa area; wearing many hats as I try and get my training business off the ground, work weekends at a local shelter as a vet tech, and earn actual money to pay the bills by working in customer service. If I sound like I'm being really mean I'm sorry! but anyone who works in customer service knows you hate people at least 50% of the time...but you hate them with love. I'm also REALLY sarcastic, but I do use italics.
