Hello! This is Tucker and we believe he's a Belgian Malinois. He was dropped off at an apartment complex in Alabama close to a very busy highway and construction buildings. Thankfully this was on a Friday night, since I had planned to take him straight to the shelter on Monday. By Monday I was in love and decided to keep him.
He's been a real joy and nightmare to raise, but now that he's older it's more of the former. Tucker has more personality than any dog I've ever had and reminds me of a husky with some of the facial expressions and noises he makes. He's very headstrong and has an intense focus, which has been great for training but horrible when he sees a squirrel.
Tucker loves learning new tricks and already knows sit, down, stay, focus, shake, high five, leave it (on his paws, but can't get it on his nose yet), bow, and go find (I have him sit stay and hide a tennis ball then walk back and release him. Unfortunately I've only been able to get him to find tennis balls...). He's pretty well behaved but we're a little behind on his socializing. He's getting better but still barks at people when they make eye contact and want to pet him. He also dislikes people with hats. However after five minutes of barking and calming him down/claiming the person, he's fine with them. He also remembers people after one visit so it's nice that it's not a repeating process for every visit.
Tucker's a big love bug that intimidates people where I live but he just likes saying hello and giving kisses. He loves laying down and cuddling after a long day of activities.
P.S. The second picture shows him in front of the koi pond that he destroyed by swimming in this summer. It's now up and running again and officially Tucker proof.
