| | Hello from Nebraska!
Hello my name is Jeff and I just recently adopted a 10 month old black lab/whippet pup. I have had dogs when I was growing up and I never had to train them as my parents did the training. So, this is a new experience for me and should be a fun one. I have had been pretty skeptical about getting a dog because I live in an apartment and I am still a bit sensitive about the idea since my childhood dog passed away in my arms about 2 years ago. I feel that I made the right decision in adopting her. From my research, her whippet blood appear to be perfect for my lifestyle and apartment. I work as a professional sales rep for 3 cell phone carriers and usually for about 7 hours a day 5 days a week. Also, I got to school part time in the mornings.
I adopted Angel on Tuesday (6/21) from the humane society and she has been a total sweet heart. So far she absolutely loves her squeaky toys, snuggling with me, naps and trying to befriend a territorial cat (he is declawed so no damage can be done). Since I have had her for about a week now, her colors have really starting to shine and so has her issues. She is an intelligent dog, for an example she is already learning basic commands like sit, stay, down, and lay down. However, some of the issues I am having with her are peeing, biting, howling and pulling on the leash. The biggest thing I want to work on with her is peeing.
I look forward to getting all kinds of tips and help from this forum and building that special bond with Angel.
