Smile Hello! Hazel and I are interested in training tips.

Hello everyone! I will be posting as Wander, and my little buddy girl is Hazel! We are interested in knowing more about training. You will find my posts in that section.

Hazel is an 8 week old Rottweiler + Collie/Pitbull mix. So, in other words, a little teddy!
I am looking to train the perfect family dog with Hazel. I have a young daughter and a few cats, so we are intent in training Hazel to be a calm, loving, and gentle companion for our daughter and our family.

Any advice on basic training? I am prepared and frankly delighted to be consistent and diligent to a training routine. We are still trying to teach her to use her puppy pads, as we are waiting to outdoor train until at least her 3rd round of shots. Parvo is common in my area my neighbor lost his dog only a month or so ago.
I'd like to know more on phrase training, the obvious of course being Sit, Stay, Come, Lay down, ect. as that pertains to her (and our) safety.

Hazel will be joining us on hikes, trips to the park, family events, and any other dog accommodating get together. We will need to be sure Hazel will not wander, or chase, as you know how children enjoy running in parks. This is also very important for her to know for the safety of our other furry family members.

It's been some trouble finding an active forum to join. I hope this one proves to be quite active, I'd love to be a frequent user.

Thanks so much for reading!

Welcome! Hazel sounds like such a cute mix. Congrats on your new addition, and it's awesome that you're so eager to begin training her!

Firstly, check out the training and behavior stickies, especially the puppy help stickies (including house training), the web resources sticky, and the recall sticky. They will all be very helpful to you though.

Here are some videos to get you started with her training:

Found a great playlist of videos for you:
