Hello Everyone

My first time here, looking forward to meeting other dog lovers and making new friends

I've had german shepherds for over 40 years, love the breed. My current shepherd is named Phoenix, mom is a german import and dad is chez lines.

I feed raw and make my own treats using beef heart, pork loin and boneless chicken breast.

Welcome here!
Do you have any pictures of Phoenix, I love the look of German Shepherds!

What do you like the best about the breed?

the one I had before Phoenix was a rescue, I lost her to lymphomia at only 7 years old. She had been so badly abused before I got her. Her spirit was broken, she was not your average german shepherd. I did the best I could for her and gave her a good home for the time I had her. So sad. the dog never caught a break

My daughter had been dating a guy that had a roommmate, the roommate got divorced and kept Molly just so the x couldn't have her. Then he kept her crated for 18 months, he would go away for weekends not leaving any food or water for her, my daughter's boyfriend took pity on the dog and bought her food and gave her water and once in a while would take her out. When my daughter saw what was happening she told the owner that she was going to tell me and he was going to be in big trouble, his response was "take the damn dog or I"ll shoot her" My daughter took her and brought her to me. What could I do, I had to take her in. She knew nothing, didn't even know how to bark, she was skin and bones and her nails were about 5 inches long. I took her to the vet, had her groomed, she had lime disease so took care of that, fattened her up and my other shepherd showed her how to be a dog. She bonded to me so quickly and I always thought it was because I was the only one that ever showed her any kindness. I had her five years then took her in for a routine vet visit and was told she had lymphoma, five week later I had to put her down.
