hello all Intro:

My name is James "Doc" Underwood, i am not a doctor but the name has stuck with me all throgh the time i was in the Air Force, i am a retired because of my Disabilities? anyways. i live in rushville, indiana and i have two miniature dachsunds one 12 years old named "Copper" the other is about 4 years old his name is "Kobie" both excellent friends and take care of eachother.
i am having some issues with plaque on their teeth and since for quite a while i was controlling this on the older dog through his "Chewies" the leather things i get a wally world. i have used these for many years with good results but with the introduction of "Kobie" he is so jealous of them even having thier own "chewy".
things have somewhat leveled out as long as i am around when they are given this. i went and purchased the dog toothpaste at the wally world and have been trying this copper has no isses with me doing anything to him "Kobie on the other hand is still a little wary. we are working out the toe nail thing as my older dog does is own nails and has taught the younger to do his but sometimes they forget.
what i am wondering is what is the best treatment to keep these guys teeth clean any help would be nice
thanks in advance
doc

I buy deer antlers for our dogs; also big butcher bones, hollowed out, and put a little peanut butter in them! They will grind for hours on them. Here's a pic for you, see the pearly whites...lol.

Welcome to the forums I also get antlers for my dogs teeth (as well as brush them when necessary).

I was recommended Dental Fresh on here and didnt think it would work but gave it a try. It works great, you will notice a different in about 1-2 weeks:

Welcome! I have dachshunds too, four of them to be exact! Ditto the antlers, and slowly work till both dogs are 100% ok with brushing. I've brushed my girl's teeth every night since she was 8 weeks and now she's almost two with NO issues.

Welcome! You can also try bully sticks. This thread had a few links to places to buy antlers online: https://www.dogforum.com/dog-toys/any...-before-23258/

The link seebrown posted was to a post of mine

To save you some reading I got mine here: Moose Antler Chews

He said to use my name "Amanda B" as a reference so that he can add you to his customer list as they are maxed out currently. My dogs picture is also the first picture on his review page! lol

AmandaNola:
