Hello

I just wanted to make a quick post introducing myself. I've always loved animals and grew up with dogs, cats, horses, various rodents and a few chickens for a while. I worked in a vet clinic while in high school and there I learned that I didn't want to become a vet or a vet tech, so instead I went to school for business with hopes of someday owning my own vet clinic. We're still waiting for that day.

Currently my only pet is a cat that thinks it's a dog. she comes when called and plays fetch. we're working on walking on a leash, but the cat seems to think she can't walk with a harness on. Silly creature.

I mainly joined this forum to learn. While I did have dogs growing up, I put most of my effort into my horses and kind of let the dogs sit. The dogs were all taught basic obedience; come, sit, down, stay and heel-to some extent. What I'm trying to learn now is more behavioral. I know horses inside and out and I wish to be that way with dogs.

I may ask dumb questions from time to time, but please know that I'm only trying to learn and understand. I hope to gain lots of good information from you all and acquire lots of good links and articles to read and think about.

Hi and Welcome to the forum!! Your cats sounds like a handful LoL.

There are no dumb questions.

Are you thinking about getting a dog in the future? Here is a Book Recommendation thread that has great suggestions for dog books.

I will definitely be getting a dog in the future, but at this point I'm not sure when in the future. I'm currently living in an apartment that doesn't allow dogs, just cats. My parents are currently taking care of 'my' dog, but my mom has already told me that I'm never getting him back, which is ok with me. He's a great dog, but my parents have lots of room for him to run and play outside and I don't know when I'll be in a position to offer that to him. he can be pretty high energy, though he is mellowing out with age. He's 6 this year.

Thank you for the link to the book recommendations, I'll definitely check that thread out in a bit.

Welcome!!!

I had a prof who said-"There is such thing as dumb questions-but ask them anyways; it's dumb not to ask" ROFL I thought that was a funny tidbit.

But anyways-ask away-never feel silly, and you can certainly share about your past dogs, hopeful new dogs or current cat-dog too Welcome!

Welcome!!

It seems you love dogs so much that you turned your cat into a dog...Hahahaha!
I really enjoy cats that can do tricks!!

I ask silly questions all the time...in fact that is how I made my vet a friend...80% of his daily calls are from me...LOL!! I don't know if he is the best vet I could find but I am sure he is the only one who would bare me..!!!
