Greetings from Texas

I've been visiting the site for a couple of weeks and decided to take the plunge and become a member today, so hello there! It's been awesome reading the threads and learning about different approaches to dog ownership.

I don't have pictures to share yet (broken camera!), but here's the rundown of my menagerie. My boyfriend and I have three cats, two tabbies, Cleo and Eliza, and a teensy weensy Russian Blue, Bluebelle, who holds dominion over us all. We also have a 3.5 year-old Yorkie/Boston mix named Gracie. And just this month, we adopted a 5 month-old long-haired Akita who we named Erik. All of them are rescues, and I couldn't imagine my life without animal companionship.

Thanks for reading!

Welcome! I just bought a Canon Powershot and it seems to work very well, reasonable price too!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm eyeballing July 4 as a good time to get a new camera, but waiting is hard. Our puppy is all, "Hey! I'm going to do something cute! All the time!"

Aw, I'm actually hoping to move back to Tennessee soon to be closer to my family. We've been in Texas about five years now, but our neighborhood is so rough that it hasn't been a pleasant stay. I'm keen on finding a new place that's way more dog friendly and less drug dealer friendly, heh.

Well, that's too bad...but you signed up while in Texas so you are on our side, lol. It's also to bad your experience was like this. In my experience, drugs are everywhere, but living in rough areas will make a stay worse. Sorry to hear your stay in Texas wasn't that great.

On A side note, A couple of years ago they busted a meth house in rural Wisconsin within a mile of my moms farm, so...Yep Drugs are reaching everywhere.

That's very true, and TN has its fair share of drug problems as well. Hopefully we'll move on to a much safer neighborhood--one with the perfect park within walking distance. It's all about the dogs, after all.

I had a similar experience in one of the neighborhoods I lived in while in TX, but then I moved to a nicer area (Kingwood), and it was much more dog-friendly, with less crime and less people that think letting their dogs roam loose is normal.

I'm moving back to TX sometime soon, so I'd like to think I'm on both sides here.

Can't wait to see pics of your menagerie! My family calls my 6 animals my menagerie or my zoo.
