Iíve been lurking on this forum for a few weeks (itís the only one not blocked at work!), beginning with the addition of puppy Siberian Husky Shane! We found him through a family member who said they knew someone that had a puppy that needed a good home, and my GF decided that she was the one to take it in.
Now, I will admit that I didnít think that we should be taking in a pup, given that she has a 10+ year old GS/Chow/??/?? mix (Gismo), and has been caring for said family membersí 12+ year old GS rescue for almost 5 years. It would be an understatement to say that I was opposed to the new-dog idea.
So, yada-yada, we got Shane. His first night in a new home, I was up until 4:00 AM, researching, reading, lurking, and trying to find out as much as I could so that I could give Shane the life that any dog deserves. The next morning, he was on a trip to the vet for a check-up, shots, and the pet store for puppy essentials.
Fast-forward just a few weeks, and heís now at 13 WO, and has been through a major scare (attack) and a few scary moments. In that time, I realized how much of a responsibility he is, and how much I care about him (A WHOLE FREAKING LOT!). Most importantly of all, heís managed to open my eyes and heart to Gismo, a dog that I once vigorously disliked.
Iím finally here, introducing myself (and Shane) and starting to log my progress with him. Iíve been fortunate enough to read posts every day, and look forward to sharing with all of you.
