Finally found an active board!

I'm active on a cat board but have had trouble finding an active dog board so I was excited to find you this morning.

I'm RAFM. My DH and I have 2 dogs, a 12 yo lab/hound mix named Charlie and a 2 yo min pin/daschund/beagle? Mix. Charlie was adopted from a no-kill rescue when he was 1 and we got Abby from a high-kill shelter when she was about 6 months.

Charlie is a great dog but had numerous problems when he came to us including being both child and cat aggressive....which wasn't good considering we do cat rescue. But, some time with a behaviorist and age have mellowed him out, although we still use a muzzle when we walk him. It's just the responsible thing to do.

Abby is the sweetest dog I've ever had. We adopted her 6 weeks after losing our daschund Andy to a spinal cord tumor. We weren't expecting to get another dog but DH'sfriend sent us a picture of her in the shelter and she looked so terrified and sad he couldn't resist her. She's my girl. I'm currently working on getting her registered as a therapy dog.

We also have 5 cats. We take in older cats, or special needs kitties that are being released by their families.

Looking forward to checking out the boards!

Thank you for the warm welcome.

It's amazing how things can change so quickly but we now have only 4 cats, we lost our old 21 yo cat this morning. He suffered a major seizure and on top of all his other health issues we decided we couldn't put him through anything more.
