So hello everyone, I am Samantha
I've kind of dropped random tidbits about myself all over the place so....
I am under 30 but have 8 years of experience working with dogs. Dog daycares, rescues, vet offices, as an assistant trainer and running an entire program (boy was that tiring). Currently an AKC CGC Evaluator and on the road to becoming CCPDT-KA as soon as I can find the money.Currently in school studying veterinary technology and after that will probably go on to pursue a bachelors in animal behavior. Right now I am the head trainer at a training facility and dog daycare, but I also moonlight as a groomer and petsitter.
As far as my training philosophy goes I would consider myself actually in the truest sense of the word a "balanced" trainer. My thoughts on this come from the well known horse trainer Clinton Anderson, as he says "As soft as possible, as firm as necessary". It also suits me well in working with children and adults
No dogs of my own just yet, but I do have a cat. I will probably be looking at getting a dog this years now that my living situation has stabilized. I'm a huge fan of basically all herding breeds, but I am also a HUGE pittie fan so I will probably end up with either some rescued bully breed, or a Rottweiler (I don't know why, just a feeling I have).
