I have a new 8 week old puppy. Mutt mix, maybe hound, maybe lab, who knows. Medium sized dog very sociable and energetic. When I first brought my little guy home at 8 weeks I put him in the bathroom with newspaper down on the floor. When I first let him loose in the house I (happily) noticed that he ran back into the bathroom to pee on the paper. Since then it has gone downhill. At first the little guy (cocao) was too small to get up and down the front steps to the yard, so I always carried him down and praised him extravagantly when he went on the grass (still do). Now he has no problem getting up and down the stairs, but has unfortunately decided it is too inconvenient to bother and just pees where he is. He has also stopped using the paper and puddles all over the house, even though the newspaper is still in the same place it has always been. I take him out to the grass to go many times day and night, and ALWAYS after eating, but he will usually try to get back inside before he goes so I have to really watch him. If I catch him peeing in the house, I grab him and bring him to the paper or outside, whatever is closer. He has also started showing agressive/dominant behavior, nipping, barking, and trying to hump. I put chili sauce on my socks because he was attacking my feet so much, even though I have PLENTY of chew toys for him and he knows them and uses them. Of course I always tell him "no!" when he does something bad, or give him a little swat on the nose, and though I didn't at first I have started scolding him for his puddles and putting his nose in them because he is not even trying to control where he goes anymore. I have no idea what to do, please help!

First off no swatting or scolding all you are doing is making him scared of going in front of you. He will hide in the future so he avoids the scolding. You need to start over at house training 101 Look at the training and behavior stickies. You could also use a kikopup video for clicker training it also is a good way to teach where to go. look for kikopup house training.
