Hi,
I am new on this site and I am wondering if anyone knows if there is a site on the internet where you can report bad dog breeders. I have come across a horrible, unethical, money-driven breeder and wish to make it known so that unsuspecting customers will be more informed about her. I don't know if there is a web site where you can rank dog breeders or what. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks so much,
Dane

Depends.

Where do you live (country state) and what are the laws there, and what laws is the breeder breaking?

oh and welcome! And good stuff ;) We'll help you figure out where to report.

it really depends on what you mean by "bad breeders." health-related? abusive? if it's just bad ethics, you can't do much unless they're in a parent breed group (AKC, ANKC, KC, UKC, etc.) if so, you can report them to that group.

you could always call your local humane society to find out the laws in your area, but chances are nothing could really be done unless it's health/abuse related.

The same thing just happened to me. I was fooled by a dishonest, money hungry, puppymill/backyard breeder who took my money and sold me a dream of a happy healthy english bulldog puppy when in reality I got an overpriced dog without papers who is deathly ill. Please beware of [websites removed] - two women ripped me off. I'm out $4500. and have a very sick puppy that most likely will not live.I hope no other family is heartbroken as mine has been by these bad "breeders".

Guys the best dog reputation website i have found by far is Puppycheck.

Dog breeder reviews, find and rate Dog Breeders, Dog Trainers, and Dog Groomers

There are a bunch of dog websites on the net but as far as i can tell as far as Reviews for dog breeders and dog breeder reputation puppycheck is best as they are fair and not sugarcoated. you can post negative reviews and see what other people posted too.

I want to report a breeder who is currently active on, Pug Dog Club of America.

I first contacted [the breeder] regarding a pug puppy on May 18, 2016. She stated she had a litter that was born that day and there was a male puppy available. I continued to visit this litter for 6 weeks, starting when the puppies were 6 weeks old until I had taken TWO 12 week old male pug puppies home on Saturday, August 13, 2016. I named them Trevor (pug 1) and Theodore (pug 2). Each pup was $2500.

Both puppies passed away the next day on Sunday, August 14, 2016. I woke up to pug 1 deceased in his kennel and pug 2 in respiratory distress. Pug 2 was taken to an emergency animal hospital where he was placed on oxygen. At this time, he already was showing signs of neurological damage and couldn't breathe on his own. The veterinarian, who specialized in Neurology, told my family and I he had a guarded/poor prognosis and he wouldn't be able to return to normal function. She stated she could not get a diagnosis either send didn't know what he was like this.

The breeder had a caregiver who also breeds pugs.

[The caregiver] is the woman who collected my $5000.00 and sold me [the breeder's] pug puppies. I was told to get necropsies on both dogs and after the documentation was forwarded I would receive my money for both puppies totaling, $5000.00. The $5000.00 breaks down too, $2500.00 for pug 1 and $2500.00 for pug 2. They also agreed to pay for all medical expenses totaling, $1549. The $1549.00 breaks down to, $469 for medical visit, $540.00 for necropsy on pug 1 and $540.00 for necropsy on pug 2.

In the end, my family and I are in emotional turmoil over this situation. We not only lost two beautiful baby pugs that we have bonded with but also are out $6549.00. But the bottom line is [the breeder] sold me two very sick puppies and I have all the documentation to prove it.

I am sorry for the loss of your puppies. Hopefully you will receive your funds as promised and if not you could consult an attorney or go to small claims. I'm somewhat puzzled at the fact that you visited these puppies for 6 weeks and have not claimed that they were ill or not breathing well on your visits. I don't know that the breeder was at fault, your did not purchase the pugs from the breeder, you have said there was an intermediary caregiver, and perhaps something happened there.
I hope that the future brings you some healthy happy puppies, I'm sorry for your experience.

@Pugs90

I had to remove the personal information from the post. If someone is looking for a pug breeder, they can PM you for the info.

Have you reported to the Pug Club of America or the AKC? Those would be the two organizations that I would start with. I would even contact a local newspaper or television news station. You could also post about your unfortunate circumstance on Facebook or other social media. It's amazing how quickly businesses act when their dirty laundry is aired on social media. A single post can travel around the country in an hour!

Best of luck!

Did you get the necropsies done? Not sure how you're out any money if the breeder agreed to pay back the purchase price and medical bills once documentation of them was recieved. It sounds to me like they are trying to do the right thing and want to know what happened to the pups. I agree wih Aspen, if it was a result of bad breeding or poor ethics then the breed club and AKC need to be contacted.
