Year old dog suddenly chewing wood in house?!!

So...my year old dog, who has never destroyed anything in my house before has suddenly started chewing the wood quarter rounds / baseboards in my house. Everywhere.

I don't know what to do, he has tons of bones to chew, toys, etc. We got on a 15-20 minute walk 2-3 times a day and play tug-of-war, etc. for energy. Has anyone had a year old dog suddenly start chewing things in the house? He actually got slightly at the dry wall by the front door while chewing the wood baseboards there! It looks horrible! He even went after the wood right in front of the window. While I was in the other room none the less.

I don't let him stay out of his crate when I leave the house anymore, I always crate him now. He used to have a few rooms he was allowed to walk in, but now that he has progressed to this, it seems I can't leave him out at all anymore! The moment I walk out of the room he finds a new one to destroy. This is getting expensive, all this stuff I am going to have to have fixed now

He's basically destroyed the entire front walkway now. What is going on...how do you stop this? I can't imagine crating him all the time now, he's 55lbs!

Is this unusual that a year old would randomly start doing this? I thought puppies were supposed to get better as they aged, not regress! I'm furious, I'm frustrated, I don't know what to do to train this out of him aside from keeping him locked up at all times.

****

Another thing to note. I noticed this morning that after he went normal #2 business on our walk, he pooped out this yellow liquid with a small streak of bright red blood in it. This is the first I have seen this, but my boyfriend said he had seen some 'peeing from the rear' (as he calls it) the past two weeks. No blood in the ones he saw though. This chewing has started up in the past 2 weeks. Is there a chance that an intestinal parasite may be causing some form of pica in him?

I haven't changed his food recently, but he does eat a lot of snow and ice....could he have picked up a parasite from something like that? He also was at a kennel on Jan 27th overnight....but they do not allow for dog interaction at that facility, only human and dog interaction/playtime.

He could be hitting the teen years that they sometimes hit between one and two. Not all dogs do, but some get really destructive or start pushing boundaries. It could also be that he simply discovered how fun it is. In that case you would simply have to manage it and not allow him to until he was trustworthy again.

But I've often found sudden chewing to be indicative of pain or a health issue. Dogs instinctively chew/eat things when they don't feel well. If they're outside that's normally grass, but since often we keep them inside, they turn to anything they can get to. My 1 year old Echo had gotten really bad chewing everything in sight the last month or 2, when before she was totally housebroken and didn't touch anything. For her it turned out she had a throat problem that was really bothering her.

Two weeks of runny diarrhea and now blood in it too would be a medical situation to see your vet about.
