Why Labradors like to eat so much?

Hi All, I have 1 and half years old Labrador.

Though he is adorable, but he likes to eat all the times.

The time we don't disperse him food he makes that sad face and with his paws taps on our legs.

Is this normal, How can we change this behaviour?

Dogs are wonderful community members, and have evolved specifically to tug at our human heartstrings.

Going back in time, alongside human settlements, dogs didn't always have enough to eat. They were scavengers on the edges of camps.

Successful dogs who were healthy enough to breed were equally those who created enough of a bond with humans to earn scraps. Those traits ultimately led to the modern existence of begging puppy eyes, tilted heads, and cute whining for food. (In your case, the sad face + paw tapping ...)

Instead of being frustrated by your dog's natural interest in food, think instead about the training possibilities. Your food motivated pup will respond beautifully to treats as rewards for behavior.

If the dog is attempting to grab food off the table or counters, for example, you should spend time on a "leave it" cue, until the dog is desensitized to counter- or table-surfing.

You can also make feeding time for the dog a game: food puzzles or hiding food around the house as part of a regular routine can exhaust a dog's mind, and allow the dog to relax once the game is over.

Good luck!
