Question Trying to get a 2nd dog but 1st dog is marking

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. We have a 4-year-old fixed male German Shepherd. The dog was bought from a foster 3 years ago. When he was with the foster he was with several other male shepherds who he got along with but not the smaller dog (Pugs). Our home at the time just lost our King Shepherd so he was the only dog.

Fast forward 3 years and I want to get a buddy for him. I think the companionship would do wonders for him - he is lazy. Yesterday we brought him to meet an intact female puppy (9 months old). This visit was done outside of our home but was the closest he came to another dog since he was 1 1/2. Although he watched her and took a snip here and there, the visit went better than expected. We left the 2nd dog at the foster and agreed to try again next week after the puppy has been spayed.

I drop our dog off at our house -he has always had free reign without accidents etc. Came home less than an hour later my bedroom door was open went inside because that was not normal and stepped in pee. I am afraid that he marked in my room. He is a huge dog so if he peeded you know. This was not a whole lot but just enough to know what it was. He used to mark before he was fixed when he saw our neighbor's dog outside the house. Now I am not sure if having another dog is a good idea. Is this something that can stop? Anyone else has any experience with something like this? I am worried because I have not even brought the 2nd dog into our house yet and already our first dog is not behaving himself.
