Seperation anxiety before move?

Ok so for those who arent up to date with Jessie and whats happening here is Jessie is flying to UK to move with me and my dad 28th April. I fly 1st may. My mum moved 28th dec 2015 to live in Uk for a job.

Jessie in the past has had seperation anxiety and im just wondering if its back.
So Jessie since mum left has been more cuddly esp on the bed and i thought she back to normal. She hasnt been crated at home for over a year now maybe the odd accident(pee) and once in blue moon chew get into treats but thats it.

Now the house is on market most time for viewings we been out though she was there for one viewing while i was home in her crate as i was getting ready to go out then later same day after rabies vaccine we came home to see viewers still there with agent. Jess seemed fine!

So on tuesday i went swimming to do some lengths in pool forgot my handbag was on the floor and unzipped. I came home and panicked as i saw that Jessie had chewed 1 and 3/4 naproxen, my weightwatcher sweetners, a small feminine hygiene product and my hand cream. I wasnt very happy and she went to her bed whilst i vaccumed nad tidied up. I immediatily panicked and rang the vet about this (the naproxen thing scared me but seems must of spat it out after all as no symptoms and she been fine!) trust me i beated myself up about this and angry at myself.

Now come to yesterday dad and i went to pool to do 30 lengths but she tried to go to car with us but got her back inside note her tail was down. i thought handbag was zipped up and came back to chewed anti bacterial cystraderm cream and face cream.

I been crate training her to go in airline crate most nights unless she feel miserable with gas or too tired to remember and she cries around mostly 6/7am (groans). Last night she went in at midnight and 5/6am she was crying and barking. Turns out needed a pee badly and she did go back in eventually but tail down.

So is this seperation anxiety i wonder? she barks if i crate her during day or moan esp when leave the house. she has nylabone and squeaky pig in there with blanket and bedding.

Trust me i was and am still alarmed about the naproxen i only keep two in glad bag for when get migrane or headache. I have learnt the hard way now to hide my handbag or take it with me. This isn't like her though.

How am i going to prepare her to be in crate for up to 38.5 hours(minus 7 hour lay over in dubai)? i am concerned. read the crate training sticky this morning.

So either missing grandma badly and distressed with house sale or both of those with SA?

It could be any number of things...I would discount the crying and barking, she needed to pee...it sounds like you're reading into it way too much. She may have simply smelled an old snack in your purse. My current dog is not much of a chewer at all...infact her favorite toy is a beanie baby cat. She is, however, a garbage hound if left to her own devices and chewed through a reusable shopping bag and a few other items to get to a tupperware that had held my lunch the day before. I'd even rinsed it so the smell couldn't of been tremendously strong. Whatever it was, was worth her trouble though. So who knows, it could of been food or other smell that attracted her.

The dog probably knows you're moving, and that can be unsettling. It can miss people. I do want to note that some dogs just 'feel sore' after vaccines, which my vet said is fairly normal in small dogs. Some need a day or two to bounce back.

You can't prepare a dog for 38 hours on a plane. You need to be calm and collected and act as if everything is normal. Right now you sound really stressed and it's only going to add to your dog's stress level.

I was stressed when i saw she got into femine sanitary product and the naproxen of course i was! but haven't been stressed since i'm just concerned. the other times in the crate arent normal though, normally in the past she has slept till 8-10am no issues.

Jessie was quiet after vaccines per usual and more cuddly but why would she try come out the house to go with us to the pool? its odd Jessie isnt one to get into things and chew things at all its so out the norm. Normally when she cries/barks in the morning its to get on my bed under the covers. The crate is in my room though and she can see me.

So you think she is rebelling a bit with missing her grandma and being unsettled with the move? if so what can i do to help her? I hardly stress as im so organised i have gone through everything and sorted what taking giving away etc. nothing left to do till house is sold.

Its just so out the norm for her to chew things and eat things (apart from treats you leave in a bag on the floor which is fair enough as too tempting. I am just trying to make sense of her behavior so i can help her overcome whatever it is.

I live by myself but at parents place yes I did leave hand bag on the floor on Tuesday at mine then on Saturday at parents place again by accident. Don't normally leave it behind but I don't have a car so can't put it in car boot however will be putting it high up in a cupboard.

Reflecting back on things a lot has been going on especially in last week and half with my gran in uk being admitted to hospital, house on market people viewing outside open homes. Of course she missing my mum aka grandma to her. We only just returned to training classes last Tuesday. Wasn't possible before then due to my and her health due to adding raw organs to diet over second week January this year. She has very delicate system and got to increase organ painfully slowly even then bit liquid/diarrhea.

Yeah, it sounds like she's just under alot of stress. I understand that leaving the purse/handbag down was a mistake, it's really ok. My point is simply that for some dogs, that sort of disruption is significant.

If you can halt any food changes, I'd encourage you to do so. Also, you mentioned "returning" to training. Remember, to you with a good long-term memory this is returning to a normal schedule. Dogs, on the other hand, have memories that are not as linear. So to her going "back" to training may be a whole new routine...something that was familiar but is no longer.

Dogs are just accustomed to routine. It's how they measure that everything is ok in the world. To us, a tossing a bag on the ground is meaningless, but to them it might throw their whole world off-kilter. It sounds silly to us, but they use these sorts of things to make sense of their world.
