Scratching at doors

My puppy is 8 months old now. When he was younger and we were potty training, one day he pawed at the back door so I let him out right away, thinking I could train him to let me know when he wants to go outside to pee. So it worked and at my old house it was great. Then we just moved two months ago, the new yard is a dog heaven, now he always wants to go outside, just to run around and be crazy. He’s always pawing and the doors, he does it from the inside to be let out and does it from the outside to be let in. I’ve been trying to teach him not too by reprimanding him with saying NO, and not opening the doors when he does this. He does it very hard. Right now since it’s so hot, I just keep the screen sliders all the way open and only keep the glass sliders closed so he doesn’t ruin the screens. But the weather is getting nicer and I would like to not have to have my ac on all the time and use the screen doors but I don’t want him ruining them which I know he will. What I’ve done so far isn’t working, it has helped but if something exciting is happening either inside or out he really scratches at the door. Any tips on how to get him to stop? He’s a smart little guy but very stubborn. I think he is a basset/boxer mix and he has the traits of both. Love the little dude but he drives me crazy sometimes. Lol He is also VERY vocal, like he wants something and will whine, make weird sounds and bark loud. He will just sit in the middle of the living room and look at the other dogs and just bark to get them to play, I know it’s part of his breed but man, been trying to curb that too with no results. Anyway, back to the scratching, any ideas? Thanks!

Maybe a doggie door that he can open and close. We put one in one of our screen doors, but ours refuses to use it.

I would give him an alternative or attach a cover. So he will be wondering how to tell you if scratching & vocalising isnt ok with you. I would hang a bell he can reach or put a button that beeps where he puts his foot. Or I would cover the patch so he doesnt reck it & he' s got an area he can scratch. I'm sure he would knock politely if he could! 😆

żDon't you have the yard closed?
I have 3 GSD's who live mostly outside the house, and animals never get near because they're usually scared of them.
